Cybersecurity
46. Knowledge Check
What security concept requires continuous verification of every user and device attempting to access a network, operating on the principle of 'never trust, always verify'?

Calling cybersecurity the 'absolute shield' of digital finance feels accurate as more transactions, data, and identities move online, the trust in that system depends entirely on how well it's protected. It's a good reminder that as digital payments and digital ID expand access, they also expand the attack surface, so security can't be an afterthought. Interested to see what this module covers around protecting everyday users, not just institutions, from evolving threats like phishing and fraud.

From this module I learned that despite the ease from online money transactions, malicious activities can have access to you PIN and account details, calling for the need of strong passwords , face and biometric recognition. I learn too that not all links are required to be clicked without verification. And that even agents can trick you to reveal account details.
Cybersecurity is something I take seriously, especially with how much financial activity now happens through phones. During my mobile money research in Chalala Township, a few respondents mentioned being targeted by scam calls or messages asking for their PIN. It made me realize that expanding access to digital finance means nothing if people are not also taught how to protect themselves. Strong passwords and knowing how to spot a scam should be as basic to financial literacy as knowing how to save or budget.
