Mobile money has genuinely transformed financial access turning a basic phone into a secure pocket bank for people who never had a bank account before. From an IS perspective, it's a great example of how telecom infrastructure can substitute for physical banking infrastructure. As a teacher, I see real potential in using mobile money as a practical, relatable entry point for teaching digital financial literacy to students.

I learned that small scale local shop owners reduce the gap by acting as local ATMs. This shows how mobile money has greatly transformed the world, permitting money in e- money form. I also learned that a phone serves too as a device to deposit, refund or save money with. This makes it easy for users to transfer funds easily to family members, friends and salary payments too.

Mobile money has made a real difference for small business owners like me. I run my own hairstyling business, Mwelwa's Beauty Heaven, and most of my clients pay through mobile money rather than cash now. It has made transactions faster and safer for both of us. I recently did a research project in Chalala Township looking at mobile money adoption, and I found that many people use it not just for payments but as a way to save small amounts they would otherwise struggle to keep aside. It really does turn a phone into a pocket bank, especially for people who are not close to a physical bank branch.
